SnugZ makes every effort to comply with FDA regulations and requirements in the manufacture of its products and in the operation of its facilities. To ensure compliance with the required Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SnugZ applies the most stringent standards to it processes and operations. SnugZ complies with 21 CFR 211 and 21 CFR 820. SnugZ does not manufacture medical devices, but has determined to comply with the higher standards imposed by 21 CFR 820.

SnugZ is also ISO 22716:2007 Certified for Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practices. You can find a copy of our ISO Certification here.

SnugZ is a powerful place and we use a lot of power to keep going. In our West Jordan location we operate 24 hours a day Monday-Friday and 21 hours on the weekend on average. During 3rd quarter of 2019, SnugZ changed from incandescent to LED fixtures in our production and lobby areas. Areas are also motion sensored and time controlled so lights aren’t on when not needed. We partnered with Advanced Lighting and Rocky Mountain Power to make it possible. The savings per year is estimated at 207,194 KWH (kilowatt hours). This equates to saving 323,016 pounds of CO2 a year through this retrofit. Many employees have expressed appreciation for the brighter work areas and effort to be more green.

SnugZ USA has been making it a priority for the past 14 years to use less paper. SnugZ purchased their first document management software package back in 2006. We used this management system to keep all our customer’s POs, Artwork, and emails in digital format and stored in a folder structure on our servers. We encourage our customers to send us documents digitally to avoid having to scan and recycle paper. Since May of 2016 we have expanded our paperless initiatives in our new ERP system. We now have a greater capacity to store documents in every format that they may come in. The document management tools also involve our ability to email out invoices, statements, Order Acknowledgements so we do not have to print these off and mail them out. It also allows us to save time by having all the documents that we send out or save, as soon as we need them instead of finding them in a filing system. 

On average we store 12 pages of documents per order. We have had 385,000 orders in our system since May of 2016. This is approximately 5 million pages of documents that we are storing in our document archive. Imagine now if all these 5 million pages were individual pieces of paper. This is 10,000 reams of paper we would have to print off and store somewhere. If we were to put these reams of paper into filing cabinets, it would take 95 large 5-drawer filing cabinets to hold this much paper. That is 332 feet of filing cabinets set side to side. That is roughly the length of the SnugZ building. 

Did you know that on average you can get 16 reams of paper from one tree? By keeping our documents in an electronic format, we have been able to save 625 trees over the past 4 years. This equals out to a little over 4 acres of forest. Not only are we saving from having to buy reams of paper, printer and fax toner, and places to store all the paper, but we are also doing a small part to reduce our carbon footprint.

SnugZ adopted a stretch of highway in 2014 to add to the SnugZ family. We take care of 2 miles on SR-111 North and Southbound, this is located Northwest of our West Jordan facility and is a road many of our employees drive on their daily commute. It’s busy and it gets dirty. Our goal in our SnugZ GiveZ committee has been to clean up twice a year to do our part in beautifying America. It's not only super satisfying to fill 10+ large orange garbage bags full of roadside litter but it's fun to put on our orange vests to pick up trash and laugh about the weird things we find with co-workers from different areas of the company. What weird things have you found on the side of the road?

Recently at SnugZ USA, our waste management system was upgraded to a single trash compactor as opposed to multiple 8 yard dumpsters. In doing so, waste pick ups were reduced from 40 times per month (twice daily) to a mere 4 visits per month (once a week). Which in turn is a 90% reduction in our carbon footprint for waste management. At our production facility in West Jordan, UT we also recycle on average 2 bails of cardboard on a daily basis.

In 2019 we were able to recycle 73 tons of cardboard which equates to:

• 28,740 kWh of Electricity
• 657 Cubic Yard of Landfill Space
• 3,358 Gallons of Oil
• 482 Million BTU's of Energy
